About Free Book, She Says, "Here's the best advice I know ..."

My colleague, Dr. Alexandra Gayek, just wrote this review of  Do More of What Works: A Practical Prescription for Figuring Out Your Life for her readers.  I thought you might get value from it.  Enjoy.

As of now the book ranks #1 in Happiness books.
This one is absolutely free until midnight Pacific Time, May 8, 2013!
If there's something in your life that's not working, here's the best advice I know for making it different: Do MORE OF WHAT WORKS (and less of what doesn't!)
If you're like me, you might, just sometimes, have a tendency to think of your problems in bigger-than-life terms. You know, completely insurmountable, impossible.
And you know where that kind of thinking leads:
·         discouragement,
·         despair,
·         hopelessness,
·         what's-the-point-in-trying...
·         Then what follows is self-sabotaging behavior--the exact opposite of what would help.
I like to think I'm above all this, but the truth is, I'm not. I've certainly obsessed about my problems until I'm completely miserable. More than once. You?
Another tendency some of us have is all-or-nothing thinking. You're either completely in the dumps, or into magical thinking. For example, you want to lose 30 lbs, and you get into believing the promise that some pill you saw online really will make it all disappear in 3 days "without dieting or exercise!"
You try the magic pill, it doesn't produce the magical results, and you're not only upset about the lack of results, but also  for being so foolish as to waste your money and believe it could have worked.
What if you tried a different approach to the things that aren't working in your life?
What if you allowed change to happen a little at a time?
The thing is, it's exactly that sort of acceptance that paves the way for big, even "miraculous" changes.
You start by accepting that you are where you are, turning your attention to where you want to go, and being willing to take small steps and look for and applaud small signs that you're heading in the right direction.
It's not so glamorous or exciting as an "instant cure," but it's much more reliably effective.
You get to choose: drama or what works.
I have to laugh at myself for my tendency to choose drama. You know, secretly believing I'm the exception to the rules of the universe.
So, along comes my dear friend and colleague William Wittmann, with another of his wondrously helpful, practical little books: Do More of What Works: A Practical Prescription for Figuring Out Your Life
It's so good! It's honest. It made me laugh. It's true. It's full of useful stories and easy tools that feel good instantly when you use them.
This last part is important: *easy.* Have you noticed that when you're upset, angry, blameful, ashamed, embarrassed, obsessed with your problems, that you can't easily access your own brilliance and wisdom?
The solution has to be broken down into something easy, or you can't do it.
Then, there's the *feel good* part. When you feel bad, you don't usually have patience for something that will work eventually. You might be willing to do something helpful, but only if it works NOW.  You know, immediate gratification.
So, here you go. Something easy. No cost. A couple of clicks and you'll be nodding and laughing along with William and everyone else who's already enjoying his book. You can read it digitally whether you have Kindle or not.
Pass on the link to your friends, so they can get it too!
Enjoy!
With love and appreciation,
P.S. If you're reading this after midnight Pacific Time, May 8, William's book won't be free any more, but it's still worth getting!
