Two Magic Nutritional Supplements Zap Bad Guys

Two Magic Nutritional Supplements Zap Bad Guys

After reading Andrew Weil’s very useful book, Healthy Aging,
I decided to try some of his suggestions. (Just out in paperback.)

Weil favors Zyflamend, an anti-inflammatory supplement, composed of a half dozen herbs and other goodies. One herb included is turmeric, that’s right, the spice. It turns out that folks in India who eat a bunch of it have much lower incidences of Alzheimer’s disease.

Since I have some genetic predisposition to this inflammatory brain condition, I thought taking some would be a good plan. (It would be difficult to get enough in your food unless you shift to the full Indian cuisine of that region.)

They process the herbs used in Zyflamend in a way that preserves their effectiveness.

“OK, Andrew, I’m convinced. Now, where to get it?” I puzzled.

Google led me to Vitacost a new company for me. Vitacost sells a wide range of nutritional supplies at wholesale prices. They win awards.

“OK, I’ll try them.” I said. Their awards and their great prices easily swayed me.

You ask, “What about your old standby FitRx didn’t they carry Zyflamend?”

“No, they didn’t.”

My road tests with Vitacost prove to me they deserve my patronage. Clearly, I recommend them to you as well.

Here’s Why –

* Wholesale prices – no kidding.

* Good reliable delivery at a very reasonable price of $5 for any order – They ship around the world – different fees may apply, obviously.

* They offer a dynamite in-house line of products.

This story clearly illustrates – Dr. Weil recommends alpha lipoic acid (ALA) for several reasons. Primarily ALA promotes healthy cell function and may boost energy levels! Sign me up. (See below for more.)

So I thought I’d try it. My recent newsletter from Dr. Nancy Roberts recommended alpha lipoic acid for zapping free radicals. I checked it out at Vitacost and found their house brand, Nutraceutical Sciences Institute (NSI), was the best value. I tried a bottle and liked it. And continue to use their house brand and save big.

You’re a smart consumer, so you know that house brands often offer the best value – delivering good quality for the best price by cutting out the middle men/women.

* Vitacost has a free nutritional newsletter. OK, it looks like nothing but a bunch of ads, but I find the articles useful. I dump the rest. A recent article continues the good news for the inexpensive supplement alpha lipoic acid.

Research is showing that it helps to repair nerve damage associated with diabetes. Since diabetes plagues our modern world, especially in the USA, this supplement with its benefits is welcome. Various recommendations range from 300 - 800 mg? per day.

Certainly, sign up for the newsletter, and just delete what doesn’t serve you.

AS ALWAYS, CONSULT WITH YOUR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL WHO KNOWS YOUR HEALTH PATTERNS.

* You can also uncover a rich supply of nutrition information on the site. Scan the side bar on the left or use the search box. I trust their information as they base it on independent research studies.

MORE COOL STUFF

In the box labeled BROWSE in the left sidebar, you can find the newsletters and the Science / Health library – the science behind natural medicine.

YOU’LL BENFIT

Obviously, you would benefit from a five-minute exploration of the site and from these two supplements.

I use Vitacost for all my supplies, now. I only recommend that which I use. Clearly, you may wish to join me.

DETAILS ON THE SUPPLEMENTS

ZYFLAMEND
Zyflamend promotes normal cell growth. The manufacturer, New Chapter, has extensively researched the herbal pharmacopoeia and international medical databases and discovered that the following time-tested herbs, properly extracted and blended in the correct proportions, contain at least 8 phytonutrients that may safely and significantly promote a healthy inflammation response.

Perhaps, in more detail than you’re curious about, you can read about the herbs:

Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum): Contains ursolic acid, which significantly enhances detoxification and promotes a healthy inflammation response.

Turmeric: Unique curcumin phytonutrient complex, synergistic with green tea, significantly multiplying each herb's ability to promote healthy eicosanoid balance.

Ginger: Supercritical extract modulates both eicosanoid cascades and offers numerous anti-aging constituents.

Green Tea: Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences report green tea polyphenols exert a beneficial effect on healthy eicosanoid balance. Major university database notes green tea contains 51 phytonutrients that promote a healthy inflammation response.

Rosemary: Dual extracts offer highly concentrated, full spectrum eicosanoid balance and support detoxification.

Hu Zhang (Polygonum cuspidatum): Richest known resveratrol source, with each daily serving delivering the approximate equivalent of six glasses of resveratrol rich wine.

Chinese Goldthread and Barberry: Unique berberine phytonutrient complex, naturally promotes a healthy inflammation response.

Oregano: Source of large number of phytonutrient modulators (31) according to USDA database.

Baikal Skullcap: Unique baicalin phytonutrient complex, naturally promotes healthy inflammation response.

ALPHA LIPOIC ACID

Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a vitamin-like compound with antioxidant properties. It promotes healthy cell function and may provide protective benefits against oxidative processes believed to contribute to degenerative diseases and aging.ALA has been called the "universal" antioxidant. Besides neutralizing unstable free radical molecules in the body, ALA may boost glutathione (one of the body's most powerful antioxidants) levels in cells. One of the most beneficial effects of ALA is its ability to regenerate other essential antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, coenzyme Q10, and glutathione.ALA is also a co-factor for some of the key enzymes involved in generating energy from food and oxygen in mitochondria. It may enhance energy levels while also assisting the body with maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. (More help in the battle with type II diabetes.)
