Lighthearted & Free

Today’s Oracle

My software angels choose this oracle quote for you today:

338)

If you bring forth that which is within you,
Then that which is within you
Will be your salvation.
If you do not bring forth that which is within you
Then that which is within you
Will destroy you.
         - Gnostic Gospel

You can use my Potent Quotes Oracle page whenever you need help.  Hold a question in your heart, and see what quote comes up for you when you scroll down.  It will be a response to your question.  Play with it.

Quotations act as little doorways into new worlds and new perceptions. They consist of distilled genius.

Lighthearted & Free

Humans make stories that scare us.  With the rare exception of fear caused by something in the present, all your fears come from stories you make up or adopt.

Heading into surgery recently, I had a handful of stories that scared me.  Here are a few, imagine…

1.       What if I wake up during the surgery?  A friend gave me this one.

2.      What if my practice doesn’t survive being away for a month?

3.      What if the spinal anesthetic gets screwed up and I am paralyzed?

Can you see the pictures?  Feel the stories unfold from those premises?  I can.

To antidote my internal fear poisons, I worked with metta, loving kindness meditations.  I looked for phrases that just brought up pictures I wanted.

I came up with this one:

May I be lighthearted and free.

You can feel the freedom and happiness in that, right?

What phrases would you make up to keep you in alignment with the best flows of the universe?

Go back and read the quote for today.  It fits.

Your Sweet Heart

As you know, I am a recovering worrywart.  And as you have no-doubt heard, worry does not help anything.  And as you also no-doubt know, knowing that worry doesn’t help, is not enough to stop your worrying.

Right?

What does help?

This time honored meditation works.

Heart Breathing

Sit quietly.  Phone off etc.  Breathe slowly and easily.

Feel your fear, your worry.  See the images.  Now breathe all that into your heart.  I know, “Yikes.”  But trust me, your heart will be fine.

Let your heart soften.  And continue to breathe in the worry, the fear, the pain.

When you feel you have taken in as much as you can, you can start to exhale loving kindness phrases.

For instance –

        May I be blessed.

        May she be blessed.

        May I be at peace.

May I be safe and loved.

        May she be at peace.

May she be safe and loved.

You can make up any phrase that feels good to you.  Or if you’re worried about someone else, ask yourself what whould bless them.  Are you with me?

Keep on with all of this until you feel at home and at peace in your heart.

OK?

These Two Books Can Guide Your Heart

I recommend reading Legacy of the Heart : The Spiritual Advantage of a Painful Childhood by Wayne Muller first.

Muller is kind, gentle, and in your face truth telling at the same time.  He is a therapist and has a masters in divinity or the like.  He quotes Jesus, Buddha, Steven Levine, The Dalai Lama, and Rumi…  All my heroes.

He offers the most useful meditations I have found for healing shame.  I recommend this highly.

This lovely book deals with what it’s like to be human and having to live with uncertainty all the time.  The 108 teachings are one to one and half pages long.  I like to read a couple before bed.

Walk in beauty, and may your sweet heart be at ease,

William
